Research

Graph Protection Strategies for Large Social Networks

Networks are fundamental models for representing and analyzing the structures of real-world systems. One essential problem in networks is how to protect a limited number of nodes to restrain the spreading of malicious attacks or dangerous rumor in the networks, which is called graph protection problem. Our research aims to make breakthroughs in developing effective and scalable methods for graph protection problem in three representative network models. In particular,

1) GraphShield method is proposed for graph protection strategy in single-layered static networks. It combines the connectivity and degree centrality criteria.

2) MultiplexShield method which combines the spectral property, degree centrality, and layer-wise epidemic propagation rate is proposed for protecting multiplex networks.

3) For dynamic networks, we propose ReProtect method which constructs the minimum vertex cover of the given dynamic network snapshot.

These three proposed methods are scalable and more effective than the existing state-of-the-art techniques.

Data Mining and Fuzzy Geo-Demographic Clustering

One of the most interesting interdisciplinary research topics between Geographic Information Systems and Data Mining are known as Geo-demographic analysis (GDA). Among some methods in this field, Fuzzy Geographically Weighted Clustering (FGWC) is considered as the state-of-the-art for Geo-demographic segmentation.

On the other hand, recent studies show that its quality of clustering achievement can be improved. One of its limitations is in cluster initialization phase, which performed randomly. In this research, we introduce a hybrid approach of FGWC based on metaheuristic optimization to overcome the limitation. The experimental evaluation through public data set studies shows that the proposed method obtains better clustering quality.

Service Oriented Architecture

Service oriented architecture (SOA) enables organizations to easily integrate systems, data, and business processes. Implementation of SOA solution in private sector is widely used and successfully proven to increase their profit. But there are different challenge in public sector which is not profit oriented and has different business model. In public sector, user satisfaction on government agencies is one of common indicator to measure quality of public service.

This research presents SOA solution for public sector using SOMA to conduct a service integration for optimizing public satisfaction. We also combined SWOT and Porter’s Value Chain to support business modelling analysis. The result shows that there is a simplicity and feasibility for users to access the service after SOA integration, which improves user satisfaction.
